I Should Have

"Can you stop that?"

Cameron's eyes shift to Sam, his cuticle clenched between his teeth.

"It's really disgusting."

"We've been in this cell for three days and you think this—" Cameron bites down and yanks. "—of all things, is disgusting?"

"And annoying."

Cameron crosses his arms, pouting and put out.

"I'm just on edge," Sam finally admits. "I should have called Cassie before we gated out. Or talked to my brother Mark."

"Yeah, I should have made a few calls, too," Cam sighs. "Like switch to satellite TV. . . . What?"

Hitting her head against the wall is oddly comforting.

This is very funny. I love Cam when he's at his most "denseness".

But honestly, I'm not buying the dense act: it's like Jack's dumbness - it's a ploy. It's misdirection. Cam is dumb like a fox. :)

Ha! Very cute. And I agree that Cam is certainly not dumb.
I think this is one way he is trying to make Sam smile while in a bad situation --
and I think you're line "Hitting her head against the wall is oddly comforting." is to be read humorously - in that Sam is smiling inside while finding Cam very goofy.

Ha. Not my intention. Because while Cam isn't dumb, sometimes he is off in his own world. *snickers* But he does try to make people smile in bad situations.

I think there's genuine aggravation on Sam's part, but there is some that's in jest. Cam and Sam have a very solid friendship and I love how they interact. They're so cute! ;)
